Innovating the company's relationship with consumers - such is EDP's challenge to university students from all over the country

EDP, a company engaged in energy generation trading, services and supply, has launched the 2017 edition of the EDP University Challenge competition with a new challenge: innovative ideas for customer relationship management. With this initiative, the company seeks to encourage university students to develop ideas that optimize consumer interaction and improve existing customer service platforms.

"For the 2017 edition of the EDP University Challenge, we decided to focus the attention of university students on our "raison d"tre": the customer. Therefore, the challenge is not only to create or remodel existing service formats, but rather to improve their everyday effectiveness and generate positive results for the company customer relationship," says EDP Strategy and Innovation Manager L’via Brando. "This is also an opportunity for students to put what they learn into practice," she says.

Through its distributors in the states of Esp’rito Santo and S‹o Paulo, EDP currently provides several customer communication channels such as the in-person service network (with brick and mortar and container stores), the Virtual Agency, the 0800 service, text messaging, and the online EDP app - the latter three being toll-free.

How to join the EDP University Challenge

The competition is aimed at undergraduate or postgraduate Management, Strategy, Marketing and

Design students. Candidates from other areas will also be accepted, provided that they evince sufficient knowledge in the areas pertinent to the award.

To participate, candidates must fill out the registration form available on the company website as of March 24 (www.edp.com.br) and present their projects on the topic.

The winning team will be awarded R$16,000, while the advisor will receive R$8,000. (INCLUDE 2ND AND 3RD PLACE)

The official launch of the competition will be held on Friday 24 at the Tomie Ohtake Institute in S‹o Paulo. On this occasion, the two winning teams of the 2016 edition will receive their awards.

Competition structure

EDP University Challenge participants must organize themselves into groups of two to five members, and it is not necessary that they attend the same educational institution. Teacher monitoring is recommended, but not a prerequisite.

The competition has two registration periods, one in the first semester and the other in the second semester. All participants will compete with one another, and the 10 (15) best projects - to be selected by a consultancy firm - will advance to the final stage. Projects will be evaluated based on several criteria, including creativity, innovation, and sustainability.
