The “EDP Diversidade” project has modules on employability and career mentoring. Target audience are black women older than 18 years old

Relocation to work in a scenario of economic instability is often a difficult task. A survey carried out by the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA) showed that women and black people are among the groups most impacted by the pandemic in the labor sphere. Taking advantage of the month of Black Consciousness, EDP and Cruzando Histórias reaffirm their commitment to inclusion and launchthe “EDP Diversidade” program. Enrollments are open until 11/07 at the website: https://www.cruzandohistorias.org /edp-diversity

Cruzando Histórias, with the support of EDP, has already carried out three other programs to encourage female employability. In previous editions, 68 women were assisted and 25 of them have already managed to re-enter the labor market. In online format, this special edition is completely free and exclusively aimed at black women. To participate, you must be older than 18 years old and seek outplacement or career guidance. 20 women will be selected.

"Black women are the largest demographic group in the country, around 28% of the population, but they are the base of the social hierarchy and have the worst conditions in the labor market, receive less than half that of a white man and have the lowest presence in leadership positions”, says Karen Franquini, career mentor and project manager at Cruzando História, who is in charge of the program. “At Cruzando Histórias and at EDP, we look at black women and their histories beyond the condition of vulnerability and we want contribute to changing this scenario, investing in training and preparing them for insertion in the labor market”.

The journey proposed by the program comprises an online employability workshop and collective career mentoring. This stage will have the participation of 6 volunteers from EDP, who will give professional tips, mediate conversations and pass on some of their experience to the participants. At the end, the professional profile of all participants will be made available in a 'Showcase of Talents', so that the Organization's partner companies can offer vacancies and new opportunities.
