EDP ​​Brasil integrates the fight against climate change and business strategy. To know and manage these impacts, EDP carries out strategic actions such as:

  • Investments in clean and efficient technologies and focus of R & D projects in the fields of solar energy, distributed generation and smart grids;

  • Assessing the impact of climate change on energy prices, through the improvement of mathematical models;

  • Investment in R & D in Distribution, to study climatic scenarios and their influences on the profile of energy consumption and, in Generation, for the study of new energy microgeneration technologies;

  • Participation of multisectoral working groups for the development of new low carbon technologies and influence on regulatory processes, such as the Energy and Climate WG promoted by the Brazilian Network of the United Nations Global Compact;

  • Promotion of energy efficiency programs and reduction of losses, in order to contribute to the reduction of emissions by customers and communities.

In addition to conducting the emissions inventory, climate change is included in the EDP 2020 risk map and commitments. These targets are aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to foster the transition to the low-carbon economy.

Commitments

  • Limiting the weight of coal technology to 25% in the energy generation portfolio by 2020 and promoting projects to reduce CO2 emissions

  • Providing energy efficiency products and services to reduce customer consumption of 100 GWh by 2020

  • Invest R $ 100 million by 2020 in the expansion of telemetry in low voltage customers

  • Invest $ 100 million in innovative projects by 2020
