Investments allowed the implementation of new technologies and modernization of the station that serves around 55 thousand consumer units in the region

EDP, electric energy distributor in Vale do Paraíba, finishes the technological expansion works of the Guaratinguetá Energy Transformation Station (ETD), responsible for supplying energy to the city and part of the municipality of Lorena. With an investment of more than R$ 2.6 million, the improvements will benefit approximately 55 thousand consumer units, approximately 150 thousand people.

Equipment upgrades were carried out, new automation and telecommunication technologies were implemented, in addition to the remodeling of the station's infrastructure. The action is of great importance for the local electrical system and aims to accompany the growth and economic development of Guaratinguetá and the region in the coming years, with more robustness and energy flexibility.

Equipped with the latest technologies related to efficiency and safety, ETD Guaratinguetá (88/13.8 kV) has a capacity of 80 MVA, distributed in 12 medium voltage feeders. The station is 100% digital and its supervision, command, control and protection is operated and supervised remotely via the Integrated Operation Center (COI), located in Mogi das Cruzes.

The construction, expansion and modernization of stations and distribution lines are essential to accompany the increase in energy demand, as cities grow. “The works aim to guarantee service to our customers, reinforcing the reliability and quality of the energy supply within high technical and safety conditions”, points out Marcio Jardim, EDP's executive project and construction manager. Currently, EDP serves approximately 5 million people in 28 municipalities in São Paulo, through 64 substations.
