UTE Pecém donates R$ 130 thousand in hospital supplies to the Health Secretary of Ceará

UTE Pecém, belonging to the EDP group in Brazil, donated R$ 130,000 in personal protective medical equipment (PPE) to the Health Secretary of Ceará

UTE Pecém, belonging to the EDP group in Brazil, donated R$ 130,000 in personal protective medical equipment (PPE) to the Health Secretary of Ceará. The inputs will be distributed to Ceará hospitals to fight against the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19). The donation was made through the EDP Institute and the delivery took place this Wednesday afternoon (1/4).

Among the more than 4,000 items donated are overalls for microbiological protection, in addition to goggles, gloves and N95 masks, essential equipment for professionals working in the care of patients with Covid-19.

EDP has been developing a series of actions to support the fight against Covid-19. The company allocated R$ 6 million to purchase hospital respirators for the Government of the State of São Paulo. The donation was made through the social organization Comunitas, which totaled R$ 23.4 million. The amount donated by EDP was the largest among the organizations participating in this action.

Support for vulnerable communities

The company also launched the EDP Solidária - Covid 19 call for proposals, which will select, initiate and design projects aimed to fight against the Coronavirus and solutions to minimize the pandemic impacts in Brazil. Applications will continue until April 10 and will allocate R$ 1 million in own resources to support projects aimed at vulnerable communities. Interested entities can apply for the resource on the website: www.institutoedp.org.br.

EDP has a Crisis Management Committee for the coronavirus and designed a contingency plan, even before the confirmation of the first case in the country. Since February, the committee has been meeting remotely every day, including weekends, if necessary. Among the initiatives already carried out by the company are: anticipation of vaccination against the H1N1 flu for employees, implementation of a home office work regime in the offices, scheduling and decentralization of field teams and reinforcement with internal information campaigns.
