São Paulo, June 8, 2018 - If you have a startup with adaptive solutions for the energy sector you can compete to travel to China with EDP Starter Brazil. The acceleration program will take the CEO of one of the teams participating in a Mission in an Asian country, the largest market in the world, where you will spend a week in an immersion focused on innovation.

Besides the possibility of going to China, the chosen teams, during the selection process will have access to a complete structure for the support of the development of your business, with expert advice innovation, mentoring of EDP executives and market, coworking space in Wework, and advice in several areas customized to the needs of each entrepreneur. One of the main differentials of the program is the investment possibility that is up to R$ 10 million by EDP Ventures Brazil.

Participants also join the EDP global community Starter. Within the ecosystem, they will have access to diverse opportunities, such as the possibility of developing pilot projects financed by EDP, opening up to new markets, such as Europe, with mentoring and participation in other competitions, including  Seed EDP Open Innovation, as well as the opportunity to participate in the WebSummit 2018, in Lisbon.

In this edition, EDP Starter is looking for new ideas on six subjects strategic: Customer Focused Solutions, Digital Innovation, Energy Renewables, Energy Storage, Intelligent Networks and Solutions in New Technologies applied to business support areas. For example, some of the main solutions involve Mobility, Electrical, Batteries, Analytics, Power Management, Prediction Models, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, BlockChain, Means of Payment, among others.

At the initiative was organized jointly with Tropos Lab, a consulting of innovation that will participate directly in the process of selection and development of startups, with application of its own methodology, in addition to to provide their specialized mentors to assist throughout the program. The China Mission is the result of a partnership with StartSe, a company that provides technologies and services to develop and prepare people to conduct business in the New Economy.

Process Steps

After evaluation of the application forms and the interviews, ten startups were classified to participate in a * Bootcamp * in two days. In the first part of the program, the entrepreneurs will participate in a  PitchFest  to present their ideas to EDP and five companies will be selected to continue to the next step.

At the chosen ones will then undergo an acceleration and development process for three months. The program includes the validation of the business model, creation of a proposal for a pilot project, validation of the solution with EDP, as well as specialized mentoring to support the development of business models on a commercial scale.

EDP Starter will have its grand finale in September, when startups will Reunite in a Demoday. They will demonstrate their solutions and program development to a diverse executives of EDP Ventures, market investors and trading and business partners.
