With a solution that offers a low-cost sustainable energy subscription, Enercred gets the first place in the company's startup development program

After three months of development and acceleration with electrical sector specialists, innovation consultants and mentors, Enercred - a startup from Minas Gerais that offers household consumers a renewable energy subscription - was the big winner of the 2017 EDP Starter Brasil award.

The company convinced the jury with the idea of offering household customers a clean, sustainable and low-cost energy subscription. To that end, the startup created a platform that shares energy credits generated in a renewable energy plant. These are then converted into discounts on the consumers energy bill. /p>

The team CEO will now travel to Silicon Valley in the company of StartSe, one of the largest entrepreneurship platforms in Brazil. The company, along with all other teams that took part in the process, will remain in the EDP Startup Ecosystem and may be invited to join other innovation initiatives, such as the EDP Open Innovation program and the global investment fund EDP Ventures.

"We are proud of the EDP Starter program because it contributes to the development of promising companies in the electricity sector. The program has reached another important milestone with the selection of this year winner, and we will now monitor the progress of all other startups," says EDP Executive Manager for Strategy and Innovation Livia Brando.

The program has also recognized CUBi Energia, a startup from S‹o Paulo, with a Honorable Mention for its efficient energy management project for the industrial sector. The entrepreneurs behind Cart‹o Solar (SC), Dooak (SP) and Nexo Capacita‹o Digital (RS) also have reasons to celebrate. They were selected from among 150 candidates to join the program and will have the opportunity to partner with EDP to leverage their energy market solutions.

More about EDP Starter Brasil

A successful initiative in Europe since 2012, the EDP Starter program has come to Brazil for the first time to help early-stage startups whose projects are either energy-related or adaptable to the energy sector. Created by EDP Brasil, a company engaged in energy generation, transmission, trading, services and supply, the program offers a comprehensive package of opportunities for the development of innovative projects.

Benefits to incubated companies include a specialized acceleration and development program, mentoring from market specialists and EDP technicians, and a global partnership portfolio to foster new business opportunities.

EDP Starter Brasil has also partnered with Kyvo Design-Driven Innovation, a Brazilian innovation consulting firm that uses Service Design as a tool for improving people experiences, whether in service consumption or in digital systems such as websites and apps. The company has not only played a crucial role in selecting and developing the startups, but has also assisted the entrepreneurs throughout the program with its specialized mentoring team.
