Praça da Língua exhibition opens with literary debate

Sponsored by EDP Brasil, a literary panel titled 'The sea should connect, no longer divide' will open an exhibition with holdings from the Portuguese Language Museum

On July 28, the 15th edition of the Paraty International Literary Festival (FLIP) will open with a literary panel titled "The sea should connect, no longer divide." The panel will launch the Praa da L’ngua exhibition, which is supported by EDP Brasil - a Portuguese energy company which is also one of the Festival sponsors.

The exhibition, which will run until August 27, 2017, will bring holdings from the Portuguese Language Museum (currently under reconstruction in Sao Paulo) to Paraty. The panel will provide a historical perspective on our language, as well as a reflection on its future and place in the world.

"The sea should connect, no longer divide" will be moderated by Leonardo Tonus, Lusophone Studies coordinator at the Sorbonne, and will have the participation of Alison Entrekin, Ana Elisa Ribeiro, Luciana Araujo Marques, and JosŽ Pinho. Other guests include Cristina Maseda - Secretary of Culture of Paraty; Hugo Barreto - Secretary General of Funda‹o Roberto Marinho; and Miguel Setas - CEO of EDP Brasil.Ê

The panel, the exhibition, and the other activities in the FLIP program are State Government initiatives in partnership with the Secretary of State and Culture, Funda‹o Roberto Marinho, and the Globo Group.
