Miguel Setas, Chairman of EDP Brasil and of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in S‹o Paulo, was honored this Thursday, November 30th, as Personality of the Year by the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony was held as part of a formal dinner reception to celebrate the 106th anniversary of the Rio de Janeiro Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and honored Miguel Setas contribution to Portuguese investments in Brazil,as Chairman of EDP,and to strengthening relations between the Brazil and Portugal,as Chairman of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in S‹o Paulo.

Held at S‹o Clemente Palace in Rio de Janeiro, the ceremony was attended by several Brazilian and Portuguese authorities and businessmen, including the Portuguese Ambassador-Consul, Jaime Leit‹o. Annually bestowed by the Chairman of the Rio de Janeiro Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ricardo Coelho, the distinction honors executives who support the Portuguese community in Brazil.

Miguel Setas has also been recently awarded the Grand Officialdom of the Order of Business Merit of the Portuguese Republic, a distinction bestowed by Portuguese Ambassador Jorge Cabral at the headquarters of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in S‹o Paulo.

In January 2014, Miguel Setas, who has been in Brazil since 2008, was appointed Chairman of EDP Brasil. Operating in all segments of the electricity value chain, the company has been in the country for the past 22 years, with operations in 12 Brazilian states, and currently employs approximately 3,000 workers.
