Linhares receives first electric vehicle charging station in the North of State

The municipalities of Guarapari, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, São Mateus and Nova Venécia will also receive charging stations; The station has already been opened at Camburi Beach, in Vitória, and Venda Nova do Imigrante

EDP, the electricity distributor of Espírito Santo, and the Federation of Industries of the State of Espírito Santo (Findes), through Senai, opened on this Tuesday, 10th, in Linhares, the first station in the North of the state that is part of the largest network of electric vehicle charging stations in Espírito Santo.



At the recharge station is located at Avenida Rui Barbosa, next to the City Hall, in the City Center.  The project, which is part of an innovative initiative, has an investment of about R$ 350 thousand and will have a total of seven stations throughout Espírito Santo.



In addition to Linhares, the cities of São Mateus, Nova Venécia, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim and Guarapari will also receive electric vehicle charging stations by the end of 2019. The stations of Camburi Beach, in Vitória, and Venda Nova do Imigrante, in the South of the State, have already been opened and are operating.



At the unit installed in the municipality allows the simultaneous recharging of two cars in the semi-fast recharge system. For instance, in just 1h30 it is possible to charge 100% of the battery. With universal plugs, the Capixaba eletric station network will also benefit hybrid vehicle owners who choose to run in electric mode only.

Electric cars are a reality and the implementation of a recharging network features Espírito Santo once again in the country, ”argues Castro, adding that Senai will also offer courses on energy efficiency and renewable energy for the State.



Use



In all cities, charging stations will be installed in places that are freely accessible to the public, and their use will not have any restrictions or limitations regarding date, weekday and time. To recharge, simply connect the electric or hybrid car, unlock the station with your card for charging and start operations on the panel of the charger. Interested vehicle owners should register at www.edpsmart.com.br, fill out a form and wait to receive your card at home.



At the National Agency of Electrical Energy (Aneel) regulates the possibility of freely negotiating vehicle recharge prices. In the case of the corridor installed by EDP and Findes, the use will be temporarily free. Costs and procedures will still be decided by EDP Smart, EDP Group new brand, which brings together the entire portfolio of services offered by the Company to corporate and residential customers. As a reference, the cost of charging electric cars is about 80% lower than that of combustion engine cars, using a gasoline vehicle that consumes an average of 10 kilometers per liter as a reference.
