Musicians will compete for the opportunity to play at one of the biggest festivals of Europe and record an album with Sony Music

São Paulo, March 27, 2018 - Independent bands of rock and Pop-Rock from all over the Country have until the next day March 27 to get registered in the 3rd edition of EDP Live Bands Brasil, registering an original song on the contest site edplivebands.edp. The winners will be awarded with the recording of an album by Sony Music and a trip to Portugal, where they will perform on the stage of NOS Alive18,one of the biggest rock festivals in Europe. /p>

As in previous years, on the platform, interactively and connected on Facebook, audios and videos of the bands are available participants to choose 10 of the 36 semifinalists of 2018. The others will be selected by a committee of experts from the area, taking into account criteria such as originality, technical and musical quality.



At the 36 nominees for the semi-final will be announced in early April, when the second phase of voting begins. In all, eight bands will reach the final, of which three will be chosen by online voting and five by the competition committee. The finalists will perform live, on May 12, for the jury responsible for nominating the winner.



"With the trip that the competition gave us to participate live, we had the opportunity to experience a very large cultural exchange and meet different bands, of different nationalities, besides dividing the stage with musicians that are a reference for us", says Lucas Varisco, member of Gelpi, winner of the 2017 edition.



For Rumenick Capucho, lead singer of Machimbo, last year finalist, “EDP Live Bands is an enriching experience for the growth of the professional experience of each one. In São Paulo, we had a workshop on the music market that was extremely important to our musical background ".



EDP Live Bands Brasil is the result of a partnership between EDP which operates in all segments on the electricity sector in Brazil, with Everything is New and Sony Music, and with the institutional support of the Lounge magazine. World-wide success, the competition, which has already received 4200 bands, is held in Portugal since 2014, arriving this year to its fifth edition. In Spain, the contest is held for the first time.



"In Europe, EDP is already considered the Official Energy Company of Music and we want to bring these opportunities also to Brazil, where we find bands of excellent quality during the previous years ", reinforces Paulo Campos Costa, communication director of the EDP Group.



From Brazilian garages to European stages



In 2016, EDP Live Bands Brasil consecrated the people of Soulvenir, composed by musicians Marlon Silva, Adnon Soares, Domingos Thiago, Wilson Jr. and Sandoval Filho. The band was chosen among the 1,300 registered and, through the awards, released the album "Uterearth" in 2017.

Last year, the winners were the gauchos of the Gelpi, band of Folk and Blues Rock formed by brothers Bolivar, Pedro and Laura Gelpi; Erik Banach Feller; Fernando Pellegrini and Lucas Alcade Varisco. Between more than 1,600 participants, the musicians from Rio Grande do Sul stood out for their originality and are currently in the process of recording with Sony Music.
