In its 3rd edition, EDP Live Bands Brasil takes rock/pop rock bands to Portugal

In addition to the opportunity to play at NOS Alive'18, winners will record an album with Sony Music. Registration is open until March 27

São Paulo, February 27, 2018 - Have you ever thought about having your band chosen to play in one of the biggest festivals in Europe and also record an album with Sony Music? In its third edition, EDP Live Bands Brasil will award independent rock and pop rock musicians with a trip to Portugal, where they will perform at NOS Alive"18 as well as have the opportunity to release their songs with a leading record label in the country.

Registration is open until March 27. It is easy to participate: Register your original song on the competition website, edplivebands.edp.com. On the interactive platform with Facebook interface, you will find audio and video of participating bands. It the fans who will choose ten of the 36 semi-finalists. The others will be selected by a team of experts in the field, taking into consideration such things as originality and technical and musical quality.

Those chosen for the semi-finals will be announced in early April, when the second phase of voting begins. In all, eight bands will reach the finals, of which three will be selected through online voting and five by the competition committee. The finalists will have a chance to appear live on May 12 before the jury responsible for choosing the winning band.

EDP Live Bands Brasil is the result of a partnership between EDP, a company that operates in all segments of the energy chain, and Everything is New and Sony Music, and with the institutional support of Lounge Magazine. Success, Worldwide, the competition, which has already received registrations from 4,200 bands and has been held in Portugal since 2014, arrives this year for its fifth edition. In Spain, the competition will be hosted for the first time.

"The appreciation of culture and the encouragement of music are already part of the DNA of the company. We want to continue supporting and bringing together the independent Brazilian and Portuguese scenes, expanding the connection between the countries, "says Paulo Campos Costa, communication director of the EDP Group.

From Brazilian garages to European stages

In 2016, EDP Live Bands Brasil consecrated the Soulvenir band, the Maranhenses, composed of musicians Marlon Silva, Adnon Soares, Domingos Thiago, Wilson Jr and Sandoval Filho. The band was chosen among more than 1,300 registered ones and, through the award, released the album "Uterearth " in 2017.

Last year, the winners were the gauchos of Gelpi, a folk and Blues Rock band formed by the three brothers Bolivar, Pedro and Laura Gelpi, Erik Banach Feller, Fernando Pellegrini and Lucas Alcade Varisco. Among more than 1,600 participants, the musicians from Rio Grande do Sul stood out for their originality, and are currently in the process of recording with Sony Music.
