Entry period for the EDP Innovation Award is extended

Monday 24, August 2015

Interested parties have until September 7 to sign up their projects and compete for the R$ 50,000 prize

Entries for the 2015 edition of the EDP Innovation Award, carried out by EDP, a company that operates in the areas of the generation and distribution of electricity, will be extended until September 7. With the theme "Smart Cities", the award aims at encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainability. The participants will compete for a R$ 50,000 prize and the opportunity to implement a pilot project in partnership with EDP using the resources of the company itself.

"We believe in the creative and entrepreneurial potential of Brazilians and, because of that, we are committed to supporting and developing solutions to improve the quality of life of the people and so contributing to the country socioeconomic development," says Miguel Setas, President of EDP.

For the sixth consecutive year, the initiative will recognize entrepreneurial ideas with potential for business development focusing on Smart Grids, electric mobility, power efficiency and renewable energy. Technical courses, University students and entrepreneurs may apply in teams of up to four members.

The EDP Innovation Award

In 2015, the prize will consist of four distinct phases: Registration, Business Model, Prototypes and Final Pitch. Unlike past editions, the selection process will have a jury composed of EDP professionals who will choose the five best projects, which will then go to the finals to compete for the R$ 50,000 prize.

The award integrates the innovation policy adopted by the company and is based on the predictable transformation of current power sector models. With partnerships among student entities, incubators and entrepreneurship support companies, the EDP Innovation Award offers benefits to the participants. Besides the awards, everyone has the opportunity to interact with each other as well as EDP and partner company executives. They also have access to entrepreneurship courses, as well as being provided with guidance and visibility. To know more, to register or to consult the rules, access: www.edp.com.br/premio
