The Company stood out for its innovative solar energy investments in Brazil

EDP Brasil, a company engaged in energy generation, transmission, trading, services and supply, was voted the Most Sustainable Company in the Electricity Sector by Exame magazine 2017 Sustainability Guide. This is the most comprehensive and respected survey on corporate responsibility practices in Brazil.

For its 2017 edition, the guide evaluated information on 173 companies that responded to the questionnaire prepared by the Getœlio Vargas Foundation of S‹o Paulo (GVces), which analyzed corporate results in the following dimensions: Overall, Economic, Social, and Environmental. The 2017 Sustainability Guide was prepared by renowned energy consultants, strengthening the award credibility.

For the first time, the survey has included specific questions about corporate adherence to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which are aligned with the EDP Group sustainability commitments as laid out in the 4 categories of the 2020 EDP Goals: generating economic value, managing environmental and climate issues, fostering staff growth, and improving corporate trust. "EDP has been listed on eight editions of Exame magazine Sustainability Guide, and we see this recognition as the result of the ongoing evolution of our sustainability practices. Our investments in distributed solar energy, which were highlighted by the Exame guide, are a strategic priority for the Company, so we are honored to receive this distinction," says EDP Brasil CEO Miguel Setas.

Operating in Brazil for the past 22 years, EDP has been listed on the Exame Sustainability Guide in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
