EDP saves more than 430 trees a year emailing electricity bills

Over 600 thousand electricity bills are emailed to customers in São Paulo and Espírito Santo

Tomorrow (21), Brazil will celebrate Tree Day to raise people’s awareness about the importance of protecting green areas. On the day, EDP, a company that operates across all areas of the country’s electricity industry, will highlight the importance of Sao Paulo and Espírito Santo customers subscribing for email electricity billing.



More than 600 thousand customers currently receive their monthly electricity bills by e-mail. This initiative has helped save over 430 trees a year.



Using less paper contributes towards smart consumption and helps protect natural resources, furthering EDP’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to achieve sustainable development by 2030. This campaign specifically supports SDG 12: “Responsible Production and Consumption” and SDG 15: “Life on Land”; both goals are part of EDP’s strategic agenda to positively impact society and the environment.



At the campaign makes use of the customer relationship channels to encourage email billing. When a customer signs up for email billing, they not only help protect the environment by decreasing people’s dependency on paper, they also receive their bills earlier.



How to subscribe to the EDP email billing system



Registering for email billing is simple and can is available any time by accessing EDP Online (www.edponline.com.br), using the company app which is available for all smartphone and tablet platforms, calling our customer service channels or by visiting our local branches.



At EDP Online, the customer can also choose to receive the Scheduled Maintenance Notices and other Company notifications by e-mail.
