EDP São Paulo will invest about R$ 300 million in 2018
Investment will bring more reliability, quality and safety to the Distributor's customers
Mogi das Cruzes, March 15, 2018 - On the date on which Consumer Day is celebrated, EDP announces investments to improve the service offered to its more than 1.8 million customers in Alto Tietê, Vale do Paraíba and the São Paulo Litoral Norte. With a focus on expanding and modernizing the electrical network, infrastructure and service, the amount to be invested in 2018 is 14% larger than that of 2017.
"We are focused on serving our customers with excellence and this has already been reflected in the acknowledgments received by EDP. For 2018, we have a plan of robust improvements that will allow us to deliver an increasingly secure and reliable service, as well as getting closer to our consumers through the new agencies and services in the channels of virtual services," said Marney Antunes, the Distributor General Director.
O f the total, the highlights are the R$ 88 million that will be directed to the expansion of the network and for the construction and modernization of the high voltage infrastructure. Among the projects are the substations in Taubaté, Guararema and Guarulhos, which together will benefit more than 700,000 people.
At the investment made by EDP will also allow an increase of 115 MVA installed capacity in the regions served, which corresponds to the current capacity of the municipality of Ferraz de Vasconcelos. The constructions will enable the system to accompany the development of cities, in addition to improving the reliability and quality of service to current customers.
At the resources will also be used to deliver more security, with the implementation of 367 kilometers of medium and low voltage networks with the technology to protect against the impact of vegetation, kites and objects launched on days of heavy rains. To enhance the improvements, limiting impacts and rapidly restoring service in the event of interruption of supply, the Concessionaire will install 122 new automatic reclosers. Currently, the Company comprises 1,241 pieces of equipment throughout its extension.

Continuing its pursuit of excellence in customer service, the Concessionaire will have four new physical agencies in 2018: Pindamonhangaba, Ferraz de Vasconcelos, Guaratinguetá and Caçapava. The bigger spaces will bring more comfort and modernity, integrating technologies that streamline demands and welcome with comfort.
Following the evolution of digital inclusion, EDP also expanded its number of services offered on virtual channels. Currently, there are 56 options available on the EDP Online portal (www.edponline.com.br) and 20 offered through the application, compatible with all tablet platforms and smartphones.
Combating energy fraud
EDP also has projects to combat fraud. The Distributor will invest R$ 43 million in 2018 in specialized team inspections on the field and on projects of measurement armoring and telemetry, that read remotely and include alarms in cases of fraud and defects. The purpose of these actions is to prevent accidents with connections that do not meet the technical standards and norms, guaranteeing the population security and continuity of service.
In addition to day-to-day actions, the Company believes that encouraging the safe and efficient use of electricity makes people acquire more knowledge of good practices and how it is possible to apply these in any reality. This year, R$ 14 million will be invested in energy efficiency projects in the concession area.
Acknowledgments and challenges
During 2017, EDP São Paulo was awarded significant acknowledgments and has established itself as one of the best distributors in Brazil. Residential consumers elected the Concessionaire as one of the four best evaluated in the Southeast IASC Award 2017 - ANEEL Index of Customer Satisfaction.
At the Company was also elected as the best energy distributor in the Southeast and the third best in the country by large consumers (industrial), by means of the Satisfaction Index of Perceived Quality (ISQP) of the Brazilian Association of Distributors of Electricity (Abradee). EDP also received two large relationship awards: the Brazilian Ombudsman Award, granted by Abrarec (Brazilian Association of Client Company Relations) in partnership with ABO (Brazilian Association of Ombudsmen), and the XVII ABT Award, held by Garrido Marketing and the IBMR - Brazilian Institute of Relationship Marketing.
