For the sixth consecutive year, the Group was recognized for its transparency in terms of information on the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG)

EDP, a company that operates in the areas of the generation, commercialization and distribution of energy, receives the Gold Seal of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Program (GHG Protocol) for the sixth consecutive year, a great recognition granted to companies that map their emissions of greenhouse effect gases.

Coordinated by the Center of Sustainability Studies (GVces) of the Business Administration School of São Paulo (FGV-EAESP), the GHG Protocol is one of the main tools that identifies and calculates emissions, providing support for participating companies to manage the impact of their business on the environment.

"The Gold Seal confirms our global commitment to sustainable development and, above all, to action which impacts less and less on the environment. The generation of energy from clean sources such as water and gas will be increasingly relevant to the company in the coming years," says Miguel Setas, President of EDP.

Climagrid

The emission of pollutants directly influences climatic conditions all around the world. Anticipating climate adversity in their business, in partnership with the National Institute of Space Research (Inpe), EDP has developed the ClimaGrid.

The system is the only one in the world capable of accurately predicting the occurrence of natural phenomena such as rain, wind and lightning 72 hours in advance.

The Climagrid, present in 14 meteorological stations installed in the area of EDP concessions in the states of São Paulo and Espírito Santo, was created with the intention of adding scientific research intelligence into the climate to electrical network technology. This makes it possible to more quickly assess and identify the impact of climate change on the company business.
