External audit proves company's commitment to risk management and the environment

EDP, a company engaged in energy generation, trading, services and supply, is once again certified for outstanding compliance with environmental management (ISO 14001), and occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001) standards.

This time, the certification was awarded to the company headquarters in S‹o Paulo, where the business units" administrative departments are located, together with the company Sustainability, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Marketing, Communication and EDP Institute offices. Compliance assessments focusing on environmental issues, risk control and occupational safety were conducted by Veritas Certification Bureau in June of this year.

"These results reward the adoption and implementation of environmental and operational best practices, highlighting our concern for the well-being of all those who are part of our company - employees, customers, and service providers," says EDP Executive Manager for Sustainability Sonia Cardoso.

These certifications reflect the positive performance of the standards and guidelines implemented by the Integrated Management and Sustainability Committee in all EDP Group units across the country, both in hydroelectric projects and administrative environments.

The company headquarters in Brazil is a productivity and integration model recognized throughout the Group. The Open Space project - implemented in 2012 to eliminate physical barriers (beams, walls and rooms), bringing managers and executives closer together - produced direct benefits in the short term, such as the sharing of knowledge, open dialogue, and process optimization.

Created in Brazil and developed by the Human Resources and Infrastructure departments, the project was later replicated in Portugal.Ê The initiative has also been featured in architectural publications focusing on workplaces.
