EDP offers R$ 60 million for the implementation of energy efficiency projects in companies

São Paulo, June 20, 2018 - EDP, a company that operates in all the segments of the electric sector in the country, will provide R$ 60 million for companies in the industrial, commercial and service sectors who want to modernize their lighting systems, air conditioning, refrigeration, compressed air or electric motors. The so-called Program of Investment in Energy Efficiency (IEE) will select projects of energy efficiency that, for some reason, have not yet been implemented.

After assessing the technical and economic feasibility of the proposals, EDP will realize the necessary investment to implement the measures. The minimum contribution will be R \ $ 300,000 per project, considering all expenditures, such as engineering plan, facilities, management and equipment. The projects should be implemented within a maximum period of 12 months after the contract signature Only after the conclusion of this work will the company beneficiary make fixed monthly payments for the service provided.

If the candidate companies do not have a consolidated project, the PIEE will make available on your site a * check list * to identify the best efficiency solution based on the information submitted. Besides that, consultants and engineering companies with mapped projects can also submit them on behalf of their customers.

EDP Soluções em Energia is responsible for the development of business and integrated energy services for customers in the commercial segment - with energy efficiency projects in lighting and air conditioning - and industry - with biomass steam generation projects and utility centers. In 2017, 23 projects of energy efficiency were realized, which contributed to the economy 51.85 GWh to the customers, in addition to avoiding the emission of 30,457 tons of CO 2 and greenhouse gases.

At the wholesale network Makro, for example, found in a project presented by EDP the solution to reduce its electricity bill and become even more sustainable. With the investment of R$ 60 million for replacement of the old LED lighting system in the indoor and outdoor areas of 69 stores scattered over 24 states in Brazil, it was possible to reduce energy consumption for lighting up to 55% or 17,500 megawatts-hour (MWh) - equivalent to the average consumption of 7.3 thousand families. After the project implementation, more than 1,431 tons of carbon dioxide gas are no longer released into the atmosphere.

As with the modernization of the air conditioning system, with the automation of * chillers * and pumps, of the hotel complex Costa do Sauípe, in Bahia, it saved 2,965 MWh per year, about 34% more than the projected economy.
