EDP Live Bands comes to Brazil to showcase Pop-Rock talent

Highly successful in Portugal, the competition holds its first Brazilian edition with online stages and the grand finale in São Paulo; Registrations open from February 23 to March 22

Now for the first time in Brazil, EDP Live Bands is a competition designed to showcase rock and pop bands and introduce them to the music scene, in partnership with Everything is New, Sony Music Brasil, FNAC, and Banco Caixa Geral.

Highly successful in Portugal, where it is now in its third edition, the Brazilian version of EDP Live Bands will award the best project with the recording of a CD and a performance at the NOS Alive"16 festival in Portugal, one of the most important music events in Europe. In addition to the aforementioned partners, the initiative is also sponsored by the Consulate General of Portugal, Fundação Luso Brasileira, Heineken, and Lounge Magazine.

Indie bands from all over the country can participate by submitting original unpublished songs, free of charge. The

selection stages and public voting will jazz up the fully interactive platform (with a Facebook interface) where audio and video content will be available for voting.

"Music is one of the most important aspects of Brazilian identity, so we decided to bring the competition to the country, which is known for its cultural uniqueness and diversity," says Paulo Campos Costa, Global Communication and Marketing Director-Coordinator at the EDP Group. "Showcasing and supporting young talent is one of the company investment priorities. In addition to these contests, EDP is involved in several music events and festivals around the world. "

Registrations for EDP Live Bands will be open from February 23 to March 22. Simultaneously, the first voting round will be held until April 1st to select the most popular registered bands. The public and the jury will select the 36 bands that will advance to the semi-final.

Semi-finalists will have the opportunity to show some more of their work on the EDP Live Bands website by uploading another original song and a video presentation of the band. In the second voting round, which will be held until April 30, the public will also be able to choose their favorite bands. Eight projects will advance to the final, three of which selected by online voting and five by a jury consisting of EDP, Everything is New, Sony and Fnac representatives, as well as actor Ricardo Pereira.

The final stage will be held on June 4 in the Unibes Cultural auditorium (São Paulo). The event will feature live performances by the bands, and the jury will select the big winner, who will later travel to Portugal. But before the grand finale there will be a career management workshop for all finalists, attended by the jury members. Experts will share precious career management advice for the competitive art world.
