Thursday 29, March 2018

By April 1, the public will help select which rock and pop bands from across the country will go to the next phase of the contest

São Paulo, March 29, 2018 - More than 1,500 national rock and pop bands have signed up for the third edition of EDP Live Bands Brazil. In the first round of voting, which goes on until next Sunday (1/04), the public can vote for their favorite band on the website edplivebandsbrasil.edp.com/votacoes and choose who will go on to the semifinal.

As in previous years, on the contest portal, which is interactive and connected to Facebook, the original songs and videos are available of the participating bands so that fans can choose 10 of the 36 semifinalists. The others will be selected by a committee of specialists, taking into consideration criteria such as originality, technical and musical quality.

The nominees will be released on April 4, when the second stage of voting begins. In all, eight bands will reach the grand finale, of which three will be chosen by online voting and five by the commission of the competition. The finalists will perform live on May 12, for the jury responsible for nominating the winners.

The prize for the big winner is the recording of an album for Sony Music and the group will take part in the NOS Alive"18 festival, one of the biggest music festivals in Europe, which already has the confirmation of bands like Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age and Pearl Jam. "With the trip that the contest offered us for participating in NOS Alive, we had the opportunity to experience a very large cultural exchange and get to know different bands of different nationalities, besides sharing the stage with musicians who are a reference point for us ", says Lucas Varisco, member of Gelpi, the winning band in 2017.

EDP Live Bands Brasil is the result of a partnership between EDP, a company which operates in all segments of the electricity sector in Brazil, with Everything is New and Sony Music, and with the institutional support of the magazine Lounge. World-wide success, the competition, which has already received the registrations of 4200 bands, has been held in Portugal since 2014, arriving this year at its fifth edition. In Spain, the contest is held for the first time.
