EDP Live Bands Brazil launches 2017 edition

Monday 13, February 2017

EDP Brasil showcases new Brazilian rock and pop-rock bands. Registrations open until March 13

Did you ever dream of performing with your band at Nos Alive Festival 2017, one of the most important music events in Europe, and recording an album for Sony Music? That is the idea behind EDP Live Bands Brazil"17, a competition which is now launching its 2nd edition to showcase talent from across the country. Independent rock and pop bands can register for free with original and unreleased songs until March 13.

To be a part of this show, the bands - hailing from anywhere in Brazil - must sign up on the following websites: edplivebands.edp.com.br or www.edp.com.br, where candidates will also find the regulations and other relevant information.

"EDP believes in cultural diversity and supports young people in Brazil with several campaigns. That is why the brand once again positions itself as the "official music energy" by supporting several campaigns and events - in this particular case by promoting cultural exchanges in the countries where it operates," says EDP Global Communication and Marketing Director Paulo Campos Costa.

Simultaneously, the public can vote for their favorite bands on the competition website, which features a fully interactive platform with Facebook interface. Audio and video content with songs and music videos will be available for voting. After registering, the emerging bands will go through two selection stages (to be determined by the public and the jury of the competition); the first voting stage will run until March 24 and the second until April 14.

The grand finale will be held on May 6, when the eight finalist bands will perform two live songs for a selected jury. The winning band will record an album with Sony Music and perform at Nos Alive 2017, in Portugal, along with bands such as The Weeknd, Foo Fighters, Depeche Mode, and Imagine Dragons.

A highly successful event in Portugal, where it has reached the fourth edition, the Brazilian version of EDP Live Bands is the result of a partnership between EDP Brasil, Everything is New, Sony Music, and FNAC, and also has the support of the Luso-Brazilian Foundation.

From Brazil to European stages

In 2016, the first EDP Live Bands edition in Brazil consecrated the band from Maranhão Soulvenir, consisting of musicians Marlon Silva, Adnon Soares, Domingos Thiago, Wilson Jr and Sandoval Filho, which combines electronic rock, regional rhythms, and English lyrics. Soulvenir were chosen from among more than 1,300 bands hailing from seven Brazilian states, and are currently completing the album "Uterearth", which will be released later this year.
