São Paulo, April 20th of 2018 - The eight independent bands of rock and pop rock, which will participate in the grand finale of EDP Live Bands Brazil are from five states - Maranhão, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo. They will perform live on May 12 for the jury of the competition, to contest the opportunity to record an album with Sony Music and perform in one of the largest music festivals in Europe, NOS Alive 18,in Portugal.

At the bands Madame Lulu (Maranhão) , Codename Winchester and DKUKAS (Mato Grosso do Sul), Cabelera and Sound Bullet (Rio de Janeiro), Bibiana Petek (Rio Grande do Sul), the Code of Conduct and Jamirulus (São Paulo) were chosen by the public and by a group of experts formed by the partners EDP and Sony Music. The musical contest, in its third edition in the country, gathered around 1,500 people from all over Brazil.

Each finalist band will perform live on Bourbon Street in São Paulo, two original and unpublished songs, one of them being enrolled in previous stages of the competition.

At the jury responsible for selecting the winning band consists of Paulo Campos Costa, from EDP, Álvaro Covões from Everything is New,  Victor Silva  representing Sony Music and the Portuguese actor  Ricardo Pereira. They will assess aspects such as technique, rendition and musical interpretation, originality, stage presence and interaction with the public.

Contestants will also participate in a career management workshop with renowned music industry experts, who will share their experiences in the artistic world.

"In Europe, EDP is already considered the Official Energy Company of Music and we want to bring these opportunities also to Brazil, where we found excellent bands in recent years ", reinforces Paulo Campos Costa, communication director of the EDP Group.

EDP Live Bands Brasil is the result of a partnership between EDP, a company that operates in all segments of the electric chain in the country, with Everything is New and Sony Music, and with the institutional support of Lounge Magazine. A worldwide success, the competition has been held in Portugal since 2014, being this year its fifth edition. In Spain, the competition takes place for the first time.

Folk and Blues Rock band formed by the three brothers Bolivar, Pedro and Laura Gelpi, as well as Erik Banach Feller, Fernando Pellegrini and Lucas Alcade Varisco. It approaches new sonorities, with instruments like Banjo Folk or Lap Steel and takes as main references the bands Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharp and The Magnetic Zeroes, Bob Dylan, among others. The musicians of Rio Grande do Sul stood out for their originality and are currently in the process of recording with Sony Music.

"With the trip that the competition gave us to participate in Nos Alive, we had the opportunity to experience a very large cultural exchange and meet different bands, of different nationalities, in addition to sharing the stage with musicians that are reference point for us \ ", says Lucas Varisco, member of Gelpi, winner of the 2017 edition.
