EDP Live Bands Brasil reaches the final round with live performances
Portuguese band For Pete Sake, with their folk, indie and surf-pop universe, are the event's guest act.
After three months of competition and over 1,000 registered bands, eight outfits - chosen by a combination of online voting and a jury - will discuss the final round of the EDP Live Bands Brasil competition. They will now have to show, with live performances, all the talent that characterizes the first Brazilian edition of this competition, which is a huge success in Portugal.
With the partnership of Banco Caixa Geral, Everything is New, FNAC and Sony Music Brasil, EDP Live Bands Brasil was created to showcase independent rock and pop-rock bands from across the country.
The company sponsors several music festivals and competitions in Brazil and in Europe - particularly in Portugal, where the third edition of the competition was recently held. "By internationalizing the event we are expanding our contribution to talent development, in this case musical talent, while also seeking to build a reputation in events of this scale," says EDP Group Communication Director Paulo Campos Costa. "The competition is a great opportunity for high-quality independent bands to make a name for themselves and quickstart their professional careers."
The big final will be held at the Unibes Cultural Theater in São Paulo on June 4. Originality, stage presence, technique and execution are some of the criteria that will determine the winning band. The jury will consist of Paulo Campos Costa (EDP), Álvaro Covões (Everything is New), Bruno Batista (Sony), Paulo Lima (Fnac) and actor Ricardo Pereira.
The winning band will not only record an album for Sony Music Brasil, but also perform at the NOS ALIVE"16 festival in Portugal. Bringing together dozens of internationally renowned bands, this is one of the most important music events in Europe.

Hailing from the states of Ceará, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo, the bands that have been selected to discuss the final are:

Before taking the stage, the bands will attend a career management workshop with music specialists who will share important advice on how to manage their careers in the competitive art world. After this, each band will perform two original songs before the jury and guests. The EDP Live Bands Brasil final round will also feature a performance by Portuguese For Pete Sake.
The event is also featured in the second edition of Experimenta Portugal in São Paulo, a Portuguese Consulate initiative to celebrate the "Month of Portugal" in Brazil.
