Thursday 28, June 2018

Beneficiaries are the institutions of São Sebastião, Guaratinguetá, Jacareí, Lorena, Taubaté, Cruzeiro, Itaquaquecetuba, Mogi das Cruzes, Guarulhos and Poá

Mogi das Cruzes, 28 June of 2018 - Service units of the Association of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional (APAE) of Alto Tietê, Guarulhos, Vale do Paraíba and the North Coast of São Paulo will save up to R$ 37,000 per year with energy efficiency projects of the EDP, distributor of energy. The reduction of costs, generated by the replacement of ordinary lights by LED technology, will enable the entity to use more resources for the continuity and improvement of services performed.

At the APAEs in Guaratinguetá, Jacareí, Lorena, Taubaté, Cruzeiro, São Sebastião Itaquaquecetuba, Mogi das Cruzes, Guarulhos and Poá serve more than 3 thousand people, acting in the promotion of the health of people with intellectual and multiple disability, by supporting their social inclusion and focusing on the defense of their rights.

With the EDP project, about 700 inefficient lights will be exchanged, reducing energy consumption by up to 15%, or 127 megawatts-hour (MWh) per year, enough to supply 7,620 households for up to 1 month. There is reduction in maintenance costs, as the durability of the LED equipment is three to four times better than the fluorescents. The technology generates even less environmental impact because it does not include mercury and other harmful components.

"The goal is to bring a reduction in the costs of energy for these institutions through energy efficiency, which will free up resources to be directed to the service to the people, " emphasizes Luciano Cavalcante, executive manager of EDP.

At the project, which will be concluded by December of 2018, was contemplated in the Public Call for Projects - CPP 001 /2017 of the Efficiency Program of EDP, which is regulated by the National Energy Agency Electrical - ANEEL.
