Energy saving is even more important in the last months of the year, when shopping centers increase their spending on Christmas decorations.

EDP, a company that operates in the area of marketing, distribution, generation and electric power services, completed the efficiency project at Taubaté Shopping. The partnership will represent a savings of 766 MWh per year, consumption equivalent to that of 319 families.

The director of EDP Grid, Fernando Peixoto Saliba, highlighted the importance of using energy conscientiously in large shopping centers during the last months of the year. "Shopping malls increase energy consumption a lot, due to Christmas decorations, so it is even more important to use the resources available as efficiently as possible, "he said.

EDP has participated in all stages. The Company was responsible for the commercial analysis, to verify the costs to the customer of electricity and for presenting both a technical and commercial feasibility plan. And, after the development of the project, it replaced the lighting system and the generator at the Taubaté Mall.

The implementation of the new system took place over six months, and will generate an annual saving of R$328.9 thousand.
