EDP Brasil plays a leading role in the second edition of "Experimenta Portugal"

The Company participates in the seminar on Innovation and Entrepreneurship and launches an international award aimed at young entrepreneurs and startups

EDP Brasil, a company operating in the areas of electricity generation, distribution, and commercialization and electric power solutions, is participating in the second edition of "Experimenta Portugal", an event held by the General Consulate of Portugal to celebrate Portuguese Month in the city of São Paulo.

Among the Company initiatives for the 2016 edition of the event are the launching of the EDP Open Innovation Award, aimed at startups from Brazil, Spain and Portugal; and the grand finale of EDP Live Bands Brasil, an independent band competition, which took place as part of a cultural agenda.

The EDP Open Innovation Award

Included in the Experimenta Portugal agenda on June 10th is the seminar "Brazil/Portugal - Innovation and Entrepreneurship as Transformation Tools," aimed at encouraging new businesses and generating change and opportunities in society. At the same time EDP Brasil will launch the EDP Open Innovation Award, an international contest to promote the development of startups, taking into account innovative ideas related to clean technologies and innovation and sustainability trends. João Brito, Director of Strategy, Innovation and Organization of EDP Brasil, will make the official announcement of the awards.

The seminar will also be attended by Miguel Setas, EDP CEO. Together with António Pargana, President of the Cisa Trading group, and Paulo Portas, former Vice-Prime Minister and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, the CEO will form part of a panel discussing how to turn good ideas into successful businesses.

EDP Live Bands Brasil and Golf Tournament

EDP Brasil will also be present at "Experimenta Portugal" through music and sport. On June 4, the cultural agenda held the Grand Finale of EDP Live Bands Brasil, an event already established in Portugal. After two on-line voting stages and jury selections, the winner, the band Soulvenir from Maranhão, was granted the opportunity to perform at the NOS Alive "16 Festival in Portugal, and also to record a CD with Sony Music Brasil.

On June 12, a charity golf tournament will be held for about 80 participants. Funds raised will be donated to the Institute for the Treatment of Childhood Cancer (ITACI) and to the Portuguese Community Purveyor in São Paulo. The competition, which will take place at Fazenda da Grama Golf Club in Itupeva, will also feature attractions such as food and wine tasting.
