EDP Brasil opens applications for the 7th edition of the University Challenge

Tuesday 29, March 2016

Students from all over Brazil will develop communication and marketing projects to raise awareness of the importance of electrical safety

Applications are open for the 7th edition of the EDP University Challenge, a university competition held by EDP Brasil - a company engaged in energy generation, trading and distribution.

With the aim of encouraging students from across the country to put marketing and communication theory into corporate practice, the 2016 edition is devoted to "Electrical Safety - Life always comes first".

University students will be challenged to submit marketing and communication campaigns designed to inform the population about electric grid hazards and how to prevent such occurrences.

The EDP University Challenge is geared towards undergraduate and postgraduate students in Management, Strategy, Marketing and Design. Candidates from other courses will also be accepted, provided that they evince sufficient knowledge in the areas pertinent to the award.

Competition structure

There are two registration deadlines for the EDP University Challenge award. In the first stage, scheduled for the first semester, applications will be accepted from March 30 to April 26 and final projects must be submitted by June 23. In the second round, applications will be open from August 8 to September 6 and projects must be submitted by November 22.

EDP University Challenge participants must organize themselves into groups of two to five members, and it is not necessary that they attend the same educational institution. Teacher monitoring is recommended, but not a prerequisite.

The 10 best projects, to be selected by a consultancy firm, will advance to the final stage. Projects will be evaluated based on several criteria, including creativity, innovation and sustainability.

The 2016 EDP University Challenge award ceremony will be announced in the first half of 2017. On the occasion, both the team and the advisor will be awarded R$16,000 and R$8,000 thousand, respectively. The second best team will receive R$ 8,000 and the advisor, R$4,000
