Group concessionaires in the states of Espírito Santo and São Paulo invest in awareness-raising campaigns and initiatives to identify possible mosquito outbreaks

EDP, a company engaged in electricity generation, trading and supply, has recently started a campaign to fight Aedes aegypti, a mosquito that spreads dengue fever, yellow fever, Zika virus, and chikungunya.

The campaign activities are targeted at workers from all EDP business units and customers within the concession areas of the company distributors, located in the state of Espírito Santo and 28 other municipalities across Alto Tietê, Vale do Paraíba and Litoral Norte, in the state of São Paulo.

"This campaign reflects the engagement of the company and workers, who are highly committed to fighting the mosquito in order to ensure the safety of the population," says Michel Itkes, EDP Vice Chief Executive Officer for Distribution.

Initiatives include awareness and anti-mosquito proliferation messages on the company social media platforms, electricity bills, and digital walls located in the concessionaires" service stores, as well as the distribution of explanatory leaflets. Moreover, to help identify potential outbreaks during consumption readings, hundreds of meter readers are now being trained by health surveillance agents.

"Technology is our ally. Geotagging will allow workers to share the location of possible outbreaks with local authorities and contribute to interventions in critical areas," Setas points out.
