ISO standards 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 attest that energy generation follows international quality standards

Once again, EDP Brasil - a company engaged in energy generation, trading, and supply - proves its commitment to the best environmental management and occupational health and safety practices.

Energia Pecém, responsible for the Pecém I thermal power plant in São Gonçalo do Amarante (CE), has received the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications for the first time, which attest, respectively, to the company outstanding environmental management and occupational health and safety practices, in accordance with international standards.

As for Investco - the company behind the Luís Eduardo Magalhães (Lajeado) hydroelectric plant in Tocantins - it was re-certified in ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 9001, which prove that the company meets a number of requirements to ensure that there are no lapses in everyday operations. Investco is certified in ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 since March 2010, and in ISO 9001 since November 2011.

"These certifications reflect our ongoing commitment to generating energy with the least possible environmental impact, along with a safe and healthy working environment," says José Cherem.

The certifications recently awarded to the EDP Group generating units Pecém I TPP and Luís Eduardo Magalhães (Lajeado) HPP are the result of an external audit conducted by Bureau Veritas Certification, a world leader in certification and conformity evaluation services.
