Valor Inova‹o Brasil highlighted EDP - a company engaged in energy generation, transmission, trading, services and supply - as one of the five most innovative companies in the electric power sector, recognizing the company commitment to the development of advanced technologies and digital transformation. The rankings, compiled by Valor Econ™mico and Strategy& (a PwC Group strategy consulting firm), selected 150 corporate standouts.

"Innovation is one of the strategic pillars of EDP Brasil, and we have intensified our performance over the last year. For this reason, the award reflects the resources and work we invested in the area. This recognition shows that we are on the right track," says EDP Executive Manager for Innovation L’via Brando. "To give just a few examples, this year we are consolidating our open innovation strategy with several initiatives such as EDP Starter Brasil, which supports the entrepreneurial ecosystem by building bridges with the startup universe. Moreover, we have launched an important Process Automation program within the Company," she adds.

The company has recently brought to Brazil a startup development program called EDP Starter. A successful initiative in Europe since 2012, the program seeks to help entrepreneurs with early-stage projects develop innovative solutions that can be adapted to the electric power sector. Registrations for the selection process are open on the website: www.edpstarterbrasil.com.br.

A process automation pioneer in the electric power sector, EDP Brasil created an Automation Excellence Center (CER) this year. The Center will be responsible for handling the entire automation process. It will function as a training hub where company employees will learn to identify the processes that are feasible for automation.

The company strategy of building bridges with the Brazilian startup ecosystem also includes Free Electrons and EDP Open Innovation, two global competitions for which applications are open at: https://edpopeninnovation.edp.pt/.
