Tuesday 10, November 2015

Projects from the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and Ceará continue on to the prototype development stage

Five entrepreneurial ideas continue on to the stage of presentation of prototypes for the EDP Innovation Award, which starts on Monday (9). The projects were selected because they showed maturity, development potential and alignment with the business of electric power. Candidates from the cities of Fortaleza, Florianópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Indaiatuba and São Paulo will be, until February of 2016, in the competition for the classification and R$50 thousand prize.

The chosen projects fall under the theme of Smart Cities and approach, in an entrepreneurial way, related initiatives such as efficient consumption and sustainable generation of energy. At the end of this step, the participants will present the business models and their respective prototypes to a pool of specialists and investors.

For five years, EDP, through the Innovation Award, has acknowledged entrepreneurial ideas with potential for business development focused on smart grids, electric mobility, energy efficiency and renewable energies.

- Subscriptions (closed on 31 August);

- Business model (from September 21 to October 28, 2015);

- Development of prototypes (from November 9, 2015 to February 19, 2016);

Unlike the previous editions, the selection process will have a jury formed by professionals from EDP, who will elect the top five projects, which will go to the last stage to compete for the final prize.

The initiative integrates the innovation policy adopted by the company and is anchored in the predictable transformation of current models in the electric power sector. With partners, among students, incubators and entrepreneurship support companies, the EDP Innovation Award offers many benefits to the participants.
