Companies maintain the partnership with a new contract for the installation of efficient lighting systems in another three of the Group's ventures

On Thursday 30, EDP Brazil, a company engaged in energy generation, distribution, commercialization and solutions, is to launch the energy efficiency project implemented in partnership with the S‡ Cavalcante group at the Shopping Mall Praia da Costa, in Vila Velha (ES). The implementation of energy solutions will allow a 39% reduction of consumption and, altogether, the mall will no longer use 1,900 megawatts per hour (MWh), enough electricity to supply a city of 1,055 homes.

The company modernized the entire refrigeration system of Praia da Costa, replacing equipment such as chillers, compressors, pumps and cooling towers. Another new feature is the automation of start up and shut down operations of machinery to take full advantage of its cooling capacities. A highlight is the installation of super silent solutions to the mall, which is close to a residential area.

Approximately R$ 4,600,000 was invested in the modernization of the facilities, an amount paid in full by the electric company. The S‡ Cavalcante Group will pay off the project with part of the savings from consumption, in a model known in the market as a performance contract.

The initiative was selected from the Public Call for Energy Efficiency Projects put out by EDP electric power distributor in Espirito Santo.

"With this project, EDP once again meets the specific needs of of one of its partners and proves that it is possible to back energetic efficiency with a very small investment, " says the Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development, Carlos Andrade.

New partnership

At the inaugural event, EDP will also seal its partnership with S‡ Cavalcante to install more than 9,400 ultra-efficient LED technology lamps in three enterprises of the group: Shopping Mall Mestre Alvaro (Serra - ES), Shopping Mall Rio Poty (Teresina - PI) and the group Central Office (Rio de Janeiro). In total, the three projects will lead to a reduction in energy consumption of 2,400 MWh, a volume that could supply a municipality of 1,328 thousand houses.

The new agreement foresees an investment of R$ 5,520,000 and the modernization works should be completed by February 2018.
