EDP is among the most transparent large companies in Brazil

S‹o Paulo, January 31st, 2018 - EDP, a company that operates in all segments of the electricity sector, was recognized as one of the three best placed in the Transparency International ranking, the main organization dedicated to the fight against corruption in the world. To arrive to the selection, a judicious study was carried out with 100 companies from the Country to analyze how companies disclose their information relative to the Anti-Corruption Program, its organizational structure and financial data related to the performance of each group in other countries.

For Jo‹o Paulo Mateus, director of Internal Audit and Compliance, "this result is the recognition of the work of the entire Company in the sense of strengthening ethical culture and integrity. " It highlights the supplier evaluation process "which helps the Company to manage the integrity risks at the moment of choosing the partners with whom we workÓ he comments.

It is also worth mentioning other actions of the Company, such as Combat Corruption Week, specific training together with employees and multiple channels of ethics, such as Voice Mail, Voice Channel, among others, which complement the Compliance Program implemented in the company since 2015. "For EDP, it is essential to maintain open communication with the employees and provide all the information and tools to ensure that best practices are maintained and that all feel part of EDP "Compliance" attitude,Ó adds Mateus.

EDP adopts the recommendations of the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC) and assumes the commitments to integrate the New Market of the S‹o Paulo Stock Exchange (B3), which guarantees fair and equal treatment to shareholders, employees, customers and suppliers, since 2005.
