EDP is among the best management companies in Brazil

Distributors of the EDP Group are recognized by the National Quality with the Best in Management Award

São Paulo, March 28, 2018 - EDP, a company that operates in all segments of the electric chain in Brazil, was recognized in this Tuesday, 27, in a ceremony held in São Paulo by the Foundation National Quality Award (FNQ), with the best in electric power distributors in São Paulo and Espírito Santo.

At the recognition, one of the most important in the area of business management of Brazil, is a result of the adoption of the Management Excellence Model® (MEG) of the FNQ and of the process of systemic and continuous improvement of practices of the Company management.

In 2006, EDP took its first steps towards excellence in management, advancing with recognition in the Highlight category of the National Award of Quality (PNQ). Subsequently, the Company took the trophy to the People criteria in 2011, Customers Criteria in 2012 and 2013, and Process Criteria in 2016.

We work with a careful and a judicious approach to the management of the organization, which is essential to adopt strategies for continuous improvement, improvements of internal processes and, consequently, excellence in the relationship with various, interested social groups, "says Michel Itkes, vice president on the networks for EDP.

At the Company serves more than 3.3 million customers in its granted areas. It operates in 28 municipalities: in Alto Tietê, Vale do Paraíba and North Coast of São Paulo (1,838 million) and 70 cities of Espírito Santo (1,537 million). In 2017, the two dealers distributed 24,703 Gigawatt hours (GWh) of energy to its consumers.

After 25 editions, the National Quality Award® (PNQ) was remodeled and gave rise to the Premio Melhor em Gestão®, which had its first edition in this year. Conceived by the National Quality Foundation annually, it aims to stimulate and support enterprises for the development and the evolution of its management, through the Fundamentals of Management for Excellence, so that they become sustainable, cooperative and generate value for society.

Forganizations applying for recognition undergo a profound analysis of its management, carried out by independent evaluators trained by the FNQ and guided by a rigorous code of ethics.

At the end of the evaluation process, the companies receive a Maturity of Management (DMG), containing the overall and detailed score, with comments expressing the strengths and opportunities of improvement in relation to the Management Excellence Model® (MEG), that is internationally recognized. The Award highlights the companies with higher scores.
