The company is the first in the electric power sector to use automated systems to streamline and hone internal processes, improving their quality and efficiency

EDP Brasil, a company engaged in energy generation, trading, services and supply, is the first electric company in Brazil to implement robotic automation to streamline and improve its internal processes. With R1SP (Shared Services Robot 1) the Group launches its internal procedure automation program, thereby leveraging efficiency and quality gains generated by technology and innovation.

The system will initially be used by the company Shared Services Center (CSP) to complete tax forms or bank reconciliation statements, and to receive invoices. Launched earlier this this month, the first stage of the automation process will be completed in the first half of 2017.

The plan is to expand the application to include corporate and business unit routine processes based on predefined rules. An initial R$1 million investment was made to implement the R1SP system, with an expected return in less than one year, mainly in overtime expenses.

"EDP Brasil proves its innovative spirit, this time by becoming a digital agenda pioneer. This is the beginning of a new approach, with improved efficiency levels," says EDP CEO Miguel Setas.

Company employees will play a crucial role in the implementation and supervision of the R1SP by assisting in the correct configuration and operation of the system. The plan is that process automation will allow them to focus on critical analysis tasks, in order to improve area productivity and operational excellence.

70% of the workforce is currently focused on the execution of repetitive processes, and only 30% of the time is spent on analytical tasks. Through Automation, the company intends to redefine this ratio and focus 80% of its efforts on high added value, critical analysis activities.

The project will be implemented by EDP Brasil in partnership with EY.
