"Movimento Brasil Digital" will present an open letter to presidential candidates

São Paulo, April 30, 2018 - Gathered in the IT Forum 2018, considered one of the main events for leaders in the areas of IT and Telecommunications, directors and presidents of some of the companies that most invest in technology were invited, last Friday, to integrate the * Digital Brazilian Movement, * an initiative aimed at transforming the country to a reference point in innovation and digital inclusion. Together they wrote an open letter suggesting initiatives to encourage the digital transformation into four pillars: Government; Infrastructure; Education and Entrepreneurship.

During the opening ceremony of the event - in which the neuroscientist Carlos Nicolelis, the economist Eduardo Giannetti and the secretary of Digital Policies of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCTIC), Thiago Camargo - Adelson Sousa, chief executive of IT Media, and Miguel Setas, president of EDP Brasil, announced the foundation of the Movement, through the union between the * Brazilian Business Pact Humanized Digitization of Work * promoted by EDP, EY, Korn Ferry and FIAP and the * Digital Nation Manifesto *, led by IT Media and the Dom Cabral Foundation.

A central theme of public policies in the main economies of the world, digitization guarantees business productivity, international competitiveness and quality services to citizens, but it poses challenges in areas such as education, work, sustainability and social policies. For this reason, Movimento Brasil Digital has as its objective to influence and promote innovation by establishing dialogue between the public sectors, private and interested parties to build proposals that bring technology to the center of the country strategy. The aim is to prepare society for the professions of the future in a humanized way, managing qualified occupations and ensuring sustainable economic growth. in Brazil.

"We need to raise awareness, engage and prepare professionals and leaders for the future with the objective of building an innovative and inclusive nation. The union of the efforts between the project that was being led by IT Media with the * Pact group * will give even more strength to our common objective of transforming Brazil and enabling the country to take advantage of the opportunities that will come through digital transformation, " affirms Adelson Sousa of IT Media.

Proposals

As a first step to understand the level of Brazil readiness for digital transformation, public policies and developed actions were mapped in this field in eight countries: Germany, Australia, Canada, Spain, India, Mexico, United Kingdom and Sweden. This information and the analysis of the scenarios found in the national territory are the starting point for the redaction of a document by the participants of the * Brasil Digital Movement *, with proposals that will be delivered to the presidential candidates.

However, the organizers clarify that this dialogue should not be limited to this election year, with due monitoring and continuity of the digitization policies. "Our next step is to present the document with the proposals resulting from this Movement to the future presidential candidates, so that they can make not just plans only for one term, but for an entire generation,” declared Silvio Genesini, president of the Brazilian Digital Movement.

For the * Movement *, Brazil has a unique opportunity to occupy a position in the new digital world. For this, however, it is necessary to tackle historic problems and prepare people, businesses and government for Industry 4.0, so that the country is not only beneficiary, but a creator of new technologies. "We are experiencing a digital era of intense business transformations. The future of the market of work should be very different from what we know today. With this, the attention must be turned to the development of people and talents that correspond to this new reality. Creativity, adaptability, empathy and ability to ask the right questions are some of the attributes that will prevail in the future, “says Luiz Sérgio Vieira, CEO of EY Brazil.

Robotization

EDP was a pioneer in the use of * Robotic Process Automation * (RPA) in the sector of * utilities * in Brazil. The Company created the Center of Excellence in Robotization (CER), which functions as a training core for employees to develop their skills and learn to implement digitization in different areas.

Together with EY and the University of São Paulo (USP), it started a pioneering Research & Development project for artificial intelligence applied to the area of energy distribution. With the investment of R $ 8.3 million over 18 months, the project will study the impact of the automation of processes with robots of the next generation.

"The labor market will undergo profound changes in the coming years and we must be prepared to conduct this movement so that the people are always a priority in the deliberations on technological innovations. The * Pact * is a commitment to the adoption of the best practices in the relations between companies, employees and technology ", affirms Miguel Setas, president of EDP in Brazil.
