EDP launches exclusive page for ESG content

Tuesday 17, August 2021

This action is part of the Company's commitment to integrate sustainability throughout its value chain to increase transparency and dialog with stakeholders

EDP, a company that operates in all segments of the Brazilian electricity industry, has just launched the “Performance ESG” page on its Investor Relations website. The platform, dedicated to content on the Company's actions in the environmental, social and governance areas, is intended to bring EDP closer to its stakeholders and investors, as well as to provide greater transparency about the implemented initiatives, in line with the strategic plan of the Group to be 100% green by 2030.

The new page has the ESG Question Bank, a search tool, in a Q & A form, which allows people to quickly find the main information on EDP’s performance in the field of ESG, available in the organization's quarterly and annual reports.

“Society has demanded greater clarity about the commitments, goals and results of the performance of companies in sustainability. In this sense, the Performance ESG page not only facilitates access to information, but also helps our stakeholders to quickly find information about the programs that are relevant to them”, says Dominic Schmal, Sustainability Director at EDP in Brazil and at the EDP Institute.

The ESG Performance page will provide details on issues such as energy transition, the Company’s actions in combating global climate change, indices on which the company is listed. The platform also details initiatives such as the Inclusion and Diversity Program, and Governance, community relations and encouragement of good practices in the supply chain.

EDP is a reference company in ESG. In 2021, the Company was the first in the energy industry in Latin America and the first large company in Brazil to have its goal of reducing CO2 emissions approved by the international Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative, an entity that mobilizes companies to take commitments reducing greenhouse gas emissions in a science-based manner.

The Company is listed in the B3 Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) portfolio, which gathers shares of companies with the best performance and practices in ESG aspects. In the last cycle, EDP was a benchmark in five of the seven dimensions evaluated (General, Social, Environmental, Economic and Nature of the Product).

This year, EDP was ranked among the five companies in Brazil with the highest number of women on the Board of Directors in a survey carried out by consulting firm Comdinheiro. This pioneering spirit had previously been recognized with the Women on Board seal, supported by UN Women Brazil.
