EDP's new head office receives a visit from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal

Friday 30, July 2021

Augusto Santos Silva visited the facilities of the Company, the main Portuguese investor in Brazil. Office was designed following the concept of Neuroarchitecture

EDP, a company that operates in all segments of the Brazilian electricity sector and the main Portuguese private investor in the country, received this Friday, 30, the visit of Augusto Santos Silva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, responsible for the formulation and coordination and execution of foreign policy in Portugal. Silva participated in a reserved inauguration ceremony of the Company's new headquarters, in the E-Business Park complex, in the neighborhood of Lapa, in São Paulo, unveiling a commemorative plaque.

“I would like to say, as Portuguese chancellor, that it is very important for us that the connection between Portugal and Brazil is also made at the level of companies, investors and workers and professional staff. And it is very important that EDP Brasil, as the great company that it is, is so associated with social responsibility missions, in particular with missions to support culture. I want to finish by congratulating the company's turn towards having an increasingly innovative mix of energies, increasingly in line with our obligations and urgent needs for climate action”, declared Augusto Santos Silva.

The new EDP headquarters was designed following the principles of Neuroarchitecture, a methodology that uses neuroscience applied to architecture in order to benefit spaces, considering concepts such as biophilia (integration between nature and construction), circadian rhythm (influence of lighting on well-being). being of employees) and ergonomics, among others, with the aim of promoting better cognition on the part of employees. The project even received the Fitwell seal with two stars, making EDP the first company in the electricity sector to achieve this certification, which recognizes the creation of healthy environments in the workplace and in homes, improving the health and productivity of occupants.

The decision to change the headquarters took place in 2020, due to the health issues raised by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the search to meet the main global trends in terms of workspaces. Therefore, we sought an environment with double height, with greater circulation space and spacing between workstations, which would provide natural ventilation and lighting and allow interventions to stimulate well-being, collaboration, creativity and better cognition to employees. Until reaching the chosen space, more than 106 properties were evaluated in six cities.

"It is a source of pride to receive the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Augusto Santos Silva at the inauguration of our new headquarters. The number 1 principle of EDP's culture in Brazil is “Life always comes first”. Taking into account all the reflection brought about by the pandemic, we understood that it was time to look for a new work space that reflected our concern with the physical and mental health of our employees. We are very happy with the result”, says João Marques da Cruz, CEO of EDP in Brazil.

EDP's new headquarters in Brazil has more than 10,000 m², with 600 workstations, 625 collaborative seats and 268 seats for formal meetings. In addition, the facilities have a Kids Space, Game Room, meditation rooms, three-dimensional (a room with advanced visual technology for special events) and training rooms, and an auditorium with capacity for 105 people.

Hybrid model

Initially, EDP will open the office to only 30% of its employees. The face-to-face work will be voluntary, and the interested employee will be able to schedule their visit with the help of an application, which will also monitor the number of people in the place on a daily basis. After this period, employees will be able to adopt the hybrid work model, going to the office two to three times a week, alternating with the home office regime.
