Wednesday 30, June 2021

The company won the largest lot at Auction 01/2021, with an ANEEL reference investment of over R$400 million

EDP, a company that operates throughout the electricity sector's value chain, won Lot 1 of the 01/2021 Transmission Auction, held this Wednesday (30) by the National Agency of Electrical Energy (Aneel). The Company estimates an additional permitted annual revenue (RAP) of R$ 38.6 million, through the construction of 350 kilometers of transmission networks and a substation integrated to the National Electric System.

The result in the auction reinforces the EDP Group's presence in Brazil and the Company's strategic investment in Networks (Distribution and Transmission), in line with what was defined in the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, resulting in adequate profitability and controlled risk. ANEEL's benchmark investment is over R$400 million.

Lot 1 will benefit the states of Acre and Rondônia, generating more than 846 direct jobs.  With the acquisition of the new lot, EDP reaches 1,924 kilometers in its transmission portfolio. The construction of the project will contribute to the load transmission and service system, ensuring energy security in the city of Rio Branco (AC), and later in other locations in Acre and Rondônia, such as the cities of Acrelândia, Plácido de Castro, Senador Guiomard (AC) and Porto Velho (RO).

“The network segment (Transmission and Distribution) is one of the priorities for the Company's growth in the country in the coming years. The acquisition of Lot 1, through Aneel's auction, demonstrates the execution of the Strategic Plan 2021-2025, which provides for an investment of R$ 10 billion in the main segments in which EDP operates in Brazil. We want to add our know-how in managing large infrastructure projects and in anticipating the delivery of works, thus contributing to the strengthening of the Brazilian electricity system”, highlights João Marques da Cruz, president of EDP in Brazil.

Transmission Investments

The Company has already invested R$3.6 billion in Transmission works and projects, representing 83% of total CAPEX execution. Will be R$ 4.3 billion by 2021 for the construction of more than 1.5 thousand kilometers of lines and six substations in the states of Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Maranhão and Espirito Santo.

In the first half, the Company started the partial operation of its transmission lines (Lots Q and 21) and substations in Santa Catarina. In March, the Company started operating the transmission line and substations in Maranhão referring to Lot 07, acquired at Leilão Aneel no 005/2016.

So far, EDP has completed the construction of two projects in advance. In August 2020, Lot 11 of the Aneel Auction No. 005/2016 was completed, consisting of two transmission lines totaling 203 kilometers in length and benefiting the state of Maranhão. At the end of 2018, EDP completed the construction of Lot 24, in Espírito Santo. The project comprises 113 kilometers of line between the municipalities of Linhares and São Mateus, in the north of Espírito Santo, in addition to the São Mateus II substation.
