EDP holds 1st National Energy Efficiency Olympics
The event should have the participation of 35,000 students from 600 schools in four states;
EDP is the only distributor in the Southeast to participate in the pilot project that is part of the Energy Efficiency Program
Vitória, May 12, 2021 – As of this Wednesday, the 12th, registration will be open for the 1st National Energy Efficiency Olympics (ONEE), promoted through the Energy Efficiency Program of ANEEL – National Agency of Electrical Energy.EDP will be the only electric energy distributor in the Southeast of Brazil to participate. The Company was chosen because it already has projects similar to the concept of the Olympics, such as Boa Energia nas Escolas, carried out 10 years ago by the distributor.
The competition is a pilot project organized by the concessionaires EDP, Coelba, Enel and RGE, and will be implemented in the states of Espírito Santo, Bahia, Ceará and Rio Grande do Sul.
ONEE is an event designed to disseminate the role of energy efficiency through the dissemination of this theme and educate for the conscious consumption of electricity. It will initially take place in Elementary Schools, in their final grades (8th and 9th grades), in order to encourage sustainable habits that can contribute to the efficient use of electricity in the national territory and add learning in the field of Natural Sciences and its technologies, according to the guidelines of the Common National Curriculum Base.
Students will complete challenges and tests to test their knowledge about energy efficiency. The first stage will be the challenges and the second the test, both online, in the month of August. The student must carry out both steps.
Students and teachers will be awarded. The four students from each state with the highest rating will receive notebooks and four notebooks will be given to teachers, one from each state. In addition, approximately one thousand gold, silver and bronze medals will be distributed among students, as well as honorable mention certificates to 50% of the participants.
Registration for the national competition is free of charge and can be done by public and private educational institutions, until August 6, 2021, on the Olympics website https://onee.org.br. Details of the regulation are also available on the website https://onee.org.br/regulamento.
Course for teachers
Teachers from participating schools will be able to take a training course entirely in digital format on energy efficiency, covering energy concepts, electric energy generation, history, development and efficiency of electric energy producing and consuming systems.
To participate, the teacher simply accesses the ONEE website - http://www.onee.org.br - and follow the step-by-step procedure for registration. After registering, you will have access to the course system, which will be free.
Public and private educational institutions can register for free to participate in the Olympics. It is only necessary to fill in the registration form on the same site.
In Espírito Santo, at least 48 schools, 48 teachers and 3,480 students will be served. In all the states where the ONEE will take place there will be 35,000 students and 600 schools.
