EDP is selected for the first time to be part of the B3 Carbon Efficient Index
Integrating the Corporate Sustainability Index for 15 years, the Company has been outstanding in preparing for a low-carbon economy
EDP, a company that operates throughout the Brazilian electricity sector, will integrate for the first time the Carbon Efficient Index (“ICO2”) of B3. The new portfolio will be valid from 01/04/2021 to 04/30/2021, being revised every four months, following the updates of the IBrX 100. The index brings together 62 shares from 58 companies listed on B3, which together represent R$3.3 trillion in market value.
ICO2 was created in 2010 with the purpose of being an instrument to induce discussions on climate change in Brazil. Until 2019, the companies that are part of the IBrX 50 were invited to participate in the process. As of 2020, in a process of reviewing the methodology, B3 started to invite companies from the IBrX 100, to compose the portfolios as of 2021.

ESG commitments
EDP was included, for the 15th consecutive time, in the list of the most sustainable companies on the Brazilian stock exchange, appearing in the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE). The Company obtained above average scores in all dimensions of the questionnaire and was considered a benchmark in five of the seven dimensions (General, Social, Environmental, Economic and Nature of the Product).
The year 2020 marked the best historical result of EDP Brasil in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) - Climate index, with an A- grade. Globally, CDP gathers sustainability data from 9,600 companies. EDP's performance in the ranking is above the world average for the sector, qualified at level B, and the global average, around C.
In June of last year, the company submitted to the United Nations (UN) a commitment to reduce its emissions to ensure that global warming does not exceed 1.5°C, adhering to the Business Ambition for 1.5°C – Our Only Future. The Company also joined Recover Better , a global initiative that proposes to governments and organizations around the world to align their recovery and economic aid efforts related to the Covid-19 crisis based on the latest climate studies.
Also in 2020, Miguel Setas, president of EDP in Brazil, was announced by the UN Global Compact's Brazil Network as CEO for Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11) – Sustainable Cities and Communities, in the Leadership with Impact.
Also within the scope of the Brazil Network of the Global Compact, EDP Brasil assumed the coordination of the Action for the Climate Platform, an initiative that develops activities and projects aimed at mitigating global warming, adaptation and means of implementation, in addition to anchoring other related thematic and sector initiatives climate, such as energy and forestry projects. The platform comprises 98 institutions.
In addition, the Company subscribes to the Brazilian Business Commitment to Biodiversity, an initiative of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) that endorses EDP's commitment to the prevention, mitigation and compensation of impacts on biodiversity, in addition to the generation of sharing of information on the topic.
