EDP 2020 Diversity Week promotes a series of lives during the next week
Several guest speakers will talk about social inclusion in the post-pandemic context, generational diversity, psychological safety and spirituality
Between September 14 and 18, EDP, a company that operates in all segments of the Brazilian electricity sector, will promote EDP 2020 Diversity Week. Under the theme #energiadadiversidade [#diversityenergy], this second edition promotes debates to generate awareness and engagement around initiatives that have strengthened the performance of the EDP Inclusion and Diversity Program since its creation in early 2019.
Committed to providing its employees with a more humane, collaborative and connected corporate environment, the Company has established diversity as one of its agendas and keeps it at the center of its business strategy, constantly seeking to bring it into its core business.
This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the actions were virtual, such as the lives with Suzane Jardim, historian and researcher in racial dynamics, to discuss Anti-Racism Education; with Conceição de Maria, co-founder of Maria da Penha Institute, on domestic violence in times of pandemic; the show with singer Liniker, to discuss gender identity; and joining the Forum on Generations and the Future of Work, in partnership with the consultancy Mais Diversidade. Now, with the presence of specialists and influencers from different areas, the four days of lives will further deepen the diversity theme for employees and the general audience.
“We believe that incorporating diversity into the companies' agenda is a path of no return and should be done with seriousness and responsibility. For this reason, we want to position ourselves, more and more, as a company that debates the topic at home, takes concrete commitments and creates situations to engage employees and leadership to guarantee an inclusive environment, with a genuine sense of belonging”, says Fernanda Pires , co-director of People, Society and Digital at EDP in Brazil.
The EDP Inclusion & Diversity Program includes six affinity groups: Cultures and Spiritualities; Generations; Gender Equity; LGBTI +; Disabled people; and Race, in order to strengthen the company's culture and principles. In total, about 500 employees or 15% of the Company's staff participate in these groups.
