Wallbox equipment is the most modern in the country and can be used free of charge at dealerships

EDP Smart, the division that brings together EDP's portfolio of energy solutions, will be responsible for the supply and installation of fast charging equipment at Audi dealerships. The chargers will be installed and available to brand customers at authorized stores in 12 cities in 10 states: São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Pernambuco, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and the Distrito Federal.

Wallbox type quick charge chargers are manufactured by ABB. The models are of the DC type and have 24 kW of power, being the first in the country with intelligent technology, in addition to being lighter than conventional ones, with the functionality of measuring energy consumption and one of the most modern in the market.

By enabling recharging at dealerships, Audi aims to increase its network of public chargers and get closer to its customers. The idea is to make the environment a space of experience with the brand, thus increasing interaction with owners and those interested in purchasing electric vehicles.

“We are excited to be able to take our experience through electric chargers to more than 10 states in Brazil, bringing more innovation to the country with the arrival of new models of wallbox. We want to be the reference supplier of recharge solutions for companies and for the end customer, as it happens through our e-commerce, and now in this commercial partnership with Audi. We are already together in the first ultra-fast recharge network in Latin America and we are sure that this new partnership will bring good results for both companies”, highlights Nuno Pinto, head of mobility and B2C business at EDP.

Reference between electric vehicles

Audi dealerships that will receive electric chargers market the Audi e-tron model, the brand's first 100% electric model. The vehicle is a large SUV equipped with two quiet electric motors with neutral CO₂ emissions. The vehicle goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7s, making performance at start-up equivalent to that of a sports car. The car is capable of producing 300kW (equivalent to 408 horsepower) and its autonomy is up to 436 kilometers (WLTP cycle). The e-tron has a robust set of 36 battery modules with a capacity of 95 kWh and 700 kg in weight.

“The e-tron is a true milestone in the history of Audi worldwide, as it is the brand's first 100% electric vehicle produced in series and successfully sold in several markets. It is an extremely innovative and incredible model of driving, which brings all the characteristics of sportiness, comfort and practicality of a great Audi”, says Johannes Roscheck, CEO and Chairman of Audi do Brasil.

EDP and electric mobility

The electrification of mobility is an axis of the EDP Group's strategy. The Company is committed, globally, to electrify 100% of its car fleet by 2030, as well as to develop new offers and commercial solutions that promote the transformation of the energy matrix. The Company wants to lead the movement towards this transition to a low carbon economy.

Last year, EDP presented in Aneel's Public Call on the topic of Efficient Electric Mobility projects that represent an investment of around R$ 50 million, via Aneel's Research and Development Fund, its own and partner resources.

The main one, started in late 2019, involves the implementation of 30 new charging points that will cover the entire State of São Paulo and connect the main electric corridors in the country, connecting the capital of São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro, Vitória, Curitiba and Florianópolis. It is the first and largest project in South America to install ultra-fast chargers (150kw and 350kw). The enterprise will have an investment of R$ 32.9 million and will connect 64 charging points, forming a corridor with more than 2,500 kilometers of extension.

In November of last year, EDP started a pilot mobility project in partnership with VIX Logística, a company of the Águia Branca Group, one of the largest transport and logistics business conglomerates in the country, with the objective of developing a system charge for fleets of electric buses in Espírito Santo. The initiative was also included in the Aneel Public Call and is expected to last for about two years, with an investment of R$ 6.6 million.

In December 2019, EDP, in partnership with the Federation of Industries of the State of Espírito Santo (Findes), through Senai, inaugurated the largest network of electric car charging stations in Espírito Santo. The project had an investment of approximately R$ 350 thousand and implemented seven charging stations.
