The Tomie Ohtake Institute and EDP, with the support of the EDP Institute, announce the 10 selected artists, among the 456 registered, coming from 21 Brazilian states and the Distrito Federal, in this seventh edition of the EDP in the Arts Award. They are: Arivanio Alves, Quixelô – CE; Davi de Jesus do Nascimento, Pirapora – MG; Emerson Munduruku - Uyra Sodoma, Manaus – AM; Érica Storer de Araújo, Curitiba – PR; Felipe Rezende, Salvador – BA; Gu da Cei, Ceilândia – DF; Hariel Revignet, Goiânia – GO; Luana Vitra, Contagem – MG; Talles Lopes, Anápolis – GO and Yná Kabe Rodríguez, Brasília – DF.

Of the total enrollment, 20 names were pre-selected, through portfolio analysis, performed by a jury composed by the artists Arthur Chaves, Dora Longo Bahia and Elilson and by the curators Amanda Carneiro and Theo Monteiro. After individual video call interviews, the list of 10 selected was defined. The group will receive personalized assistance from the judging team for the process of carrying out the respective works. This follow-up, a rare opportunity for young artists, implements the criteria for choosing the three winners.

The award is completed with an exhibition of the works of the 10 artists at the Tomie Ohtake Institute. The opening of the exhibition and the announcement of the three winners with international residencies, should take place on October 1st of this year, a date to be confirmed due to the sanitary and governmental guidelines regarding the control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aimed at stimulating contemporary artistic production, the EDP in the Arts Award is dedicated to young artists from all over Brazil, born or resident in the country for at least two years, aged between 18 and 29 years. The initiative, in addition to the award, includes a series of activities throughout the year, such as courses, lectures, lives and workshops in Brazilian regions where access to contemporary art is more restricted.

In the previous edition, in 2018, the three winners with international artistic residencies were Marie Carangi (Recife - PE, 1989); Elilson (Recife - PE, 1991) and Iagor João Barbosa Peres (Rio De Janeiro - RJ, 1995).
