Starter Business Acceleration announces the ten startups selected for the Latin America module of the electric sector acceleration program
The LATAM module will have EDP Brasil as host and will happen digitally between 06/30 and 07/02. Startups will have the opportunity to present their test solutions to Utilities, in addition to competing for a prize of 50 thousand euros.
Starter Business Acceleration, a global business acceleration program with startups that offer solutions applicable to the energy sector, selected ten startups to participate in the Latin America module. Created by EDP, a company that operates throughout the electricity sector chain, the program received a record 820 applications from 74 countries, with Brazil one of the countries with the highest number of applications.
The selected companies are Atlas Power, Energy Source, GreenAnt, IndustryCare, Plataforma Verde, Nuveo Technologies, eConciliador (Brazil), Inti-Tech (Chile), PDP - Tech and Chakratec (Israel). The module will take place digitally between 06/30 and 07/02, where companies will be able to present their projects to the executives of guests at the event and discuss forms of collaboration aimed at the adoption of new technologies. The startups selected for the Latin America module, join 20 other startups that will participate in the Europe and North America modules during the month of July.
The thirty startups that continue in the dispute will present their solutions to the companies of the EDP Group, which has an installed capacity of 27GW, 74% of which come from clean energy (wind, solar and water), and 12 million customers, in addition to two other partner utilities that make up the program: Verbund, Austria's largest electricity supplier; and Turning Tables, an innovation company of the Spanish group Cuerva.
The ten projects with the greatest potential will later be selected to participate in the world final and the winner will be announced, in November in Portugal, during the Web Summit, guaranteeing a prize of 50 thousand euros.
Participating startups offer solutions aligned with the priority business areas for utilities: clean energy, customer-focused solutions, digital innovation, energy storage, smart grids, innovation in internal processes and impact innovation.
“The Brazilian startup ecosystem has been growing in size and quality in recent years. This edition of the program reflects the maturity and interest of the companies participating in the Latin American market, as well as the increasingly natural synergy with the energy sector. The Starter program represents the opportunity for collaboration between startups and Utilities in order to accelerate new business models and process optimization through the adoption of new technologies in the company's value chain. ”, Highlights Livia Brando, Head of Innovation and Ventures at EDP Brasil.
