EDP elected as one of the best companies to work for the fourth consecutive year
Company scored above average in the Sustainability & Diversity Management and Employer Branding categories, according to the Brazilian magazine VOCÊ S/A on its guide for Best Companies to Work
EDP, a company that operates in the entire value chain of the electricity sector, entered for the fourth year in a row in the VOCÊ S/A magazine’s Best Companies to Work ranking. This Ranking assesses people management practices and the work environment in organizations, and selected 150 companies from 21 industries of the economy.
EDP scored above average in two ratings: Sustainability and Diversity Management, and Employer Branding. The first of these assesses the companies’ contribution to the improvement of the community and the environment. The Company has formalized its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), goals that make up the global action plan defined by the United Nations (UN) and has actively incorporated eight SDGs into its strategic growth agenda with generation of positive social and environmental impacts.
In 2019, the Company launched the Inclusion & Diversity Program, with the aim of reaffirming its commitment to its culture and to equal opportunities for all. Among the actions of the six affinity groups - Cultures and Spirituality; Generations; Gender; LGBTI +; PwDs and Race - attention should be given to the School of Electricians for Women, Diversity Week, and the membership of the Citizen Company, including the extension of maternity leave to six months, two months longer than the 120 days provided by Brazilian Law, and paternity leave for 30 days, ten more than foreseen by the Citizen Company. The rules of the program also apply to adoptions and to homosexual couples.
The Employer Branding rating evaluates the pride of working in a particular company. The actions most praised by employees include the support to initiatives for valuing the Luso-Brazilian culture, as the master sponsorship for the reconstruction of the Portuguese Language Museum and the contribution of R$ 12 million for restoration of the Ipiranga Museum, therefore being the first private enterprise to announce support for the reform of the historical heritage. In addition, over 10 years, through its EDP Institute, the Company has invested R$ 100 million in actions aimed at generating income and education in the areas around its operations.
“Being among the Best Companies to Work for the fourth consecutive year is another proof that our actions reflect EDP’s culture and values. This recognition is the result of the satisfaction of our employees and we will continue to build a better company every day”, says Fernanda Pires, HR Director of EDP Brasil.
In 2019, EDP was also elected the best company in the “Ethics and Transparency” category in the Sustainability Guide of Brazilian magazine Exame and was among the five best companies in Brazil in the Época Negócios 360° yearbook of the Brazilian magazine Época Negócios, which evaluates criteria such as governance, innovation, future vision, people management and social and environmental responsibility.
