Winning band of the EDP Live Bands Brazil contest performs at the NOS Alive ’19
The band ETC, from Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, performed on the 11th and 12th of July at the NOS Alive ’19, one of Europe’s greatest music festivals
The winner of the fourth edition of the EDP Live Bands Brazil music contest, ETC, a band from the state of Minas Gerais, performed on the last two days of the NOS Alive ’19 festival in Portugal, one of the greatest music festivals in Europe. The band performed on the same day as other international features, such as Vampire Weekend and Greta Van Fleet.
At EDP Live Bands, ETC came in first place, coming up ahead of 1.700 bands from all over the country competing for the award. They got over 180 thousand votes online and over two million views in the competition’s website.
For Paulo Campos Costa, EDP’s global communication director, “the performance of ETC in Europe crowns the 2019 edition of EDP Live Bands Brazil, highlighted by the record set in sheer number of bands participating and by the powerful vibe following this edition”. EDP Live Bands Brazil has gained momentum every following year, bringing incentive and paying homage to Brazilian music and gaining notoriety in the international scene.
EDP Live Bands Brazil is the result of a partnership between EDP, company present in all sectors of the Brazilian electric market, Everything is New and Sony Music, with institutional support from Lounge Magazine. A global hit, the competition is carried out in Portugal every year since 2014, coming up on its sixth edition. In Brazil, the competition started in 2016, and in Spain is currently on the second edition. Since its debut, EDP Live Bands has awarded a total of 14 bands, all of which participated in festivals of large international projection.
Band ETC
ETC (ecetera) was formed back in 2011 by Dudu (lead vocals and acoustic guitar), Balut (drums) and Vinícius (base guitar/backstage) and has two albums out: “Céu Grande” (Large Sky) out in 2014, and “Sintonia” (in tune), out in 2018. The band has already shared the stage with prominent artists such as O Rappa, Natiruts, Criolo and Nando Reis. Some of their songs have received airtime in local radios. The group won an award at the WebfestValda 2017, at the Progress Foundation – Rio de Janeiro – and more recently won another music competition, the #showlivreday in São Paulo.
