ETC, a band from Minas Gerais, won the 4th edition of EDP Live Bands Brazil. After beating seven other finalists, the band will have an opportunity to record an album with Sony Music and play at NOS Alive’ 19, one of Europe's biggest music festivals, in July.

The final was held last Saturday (27) at Bourbon Street, in São Paulo, with live performances of original songs by all eight finalists - A Balsa and O Grilo, both from São Paulo; Bianca Nápoles from the Federal District; Cidade Fantasma, ETC and Expira em Segundos, from Minas Gerais; DKUKAS from Acre, and Duda Brack from Rio de Janeiro. Sound Bullet, the winner of the 3rd edition of EDP Live Bands Brazil in 2018, appeared as a special guest.

A record 1,700 bands from all over Brazil entered the competition. After receiving over 180 thousand votes and two million views on the event’s website, the finalists were judged by Paulo Campos Costa, from EDP Group, Rennon Falbo, from Sony Music, Álvaro Covões, from Everything is New and Ricardo Pereira, an actor from Portugal, based on criteria such as technique, musical execution and performance, originality, stage presence and crowd interaction.

“This has been the biggest moment in our career so far. After eight years on the road we will have an opportunity to play at one of the biggest festivals in the world and record our album. We will always remember this night” said Dudu, lead singer of ETC.

Paulo Campos Costa, Communication Director for the EDP Group, said “Portugal and Brazil are linked by their language, while music is also powerful enough to unite people. EDP Live Bands Brazil is growing each year, supporting and sponsoring national music and becoming the biggest garage band competition in Brazil”.

EDP Live Bands Brazil is the result of a partnership between EDP, a company that operates across all segments of the electricity industry, event producer Everything is New and Sony Music, with institutional support from Lounge Magazine. A global success, the competition began in Portugal in 2014 and is now in its sixth edition. The Brazilian version of the competition was launched back in 2016 and the second edition of the Spanish competition is being held this year. Since EDP Live Bands was launched, 11 bands have been crowned winners and played at major international music festivals.
