Today, 19, students at the country’s first electricity industry school exclusively for women received their graduation certificates. This initiative is a partnership between EDP, a company that operates across all segments of the country’s electricity industry, and the National Industrial Learning Service (SENAI). The graduation ceremony took place at EDPs headquarters in Mogi das Cruzes and was attended by company and Senai representatives.

Over 550 people enrolled for the school’s selection process. 16 applicants were selected for the professional training course held between July and October of this year.  

At the free course focused on the future electricians’ proficiency and qualifications, to prepare them for jobs in the energy distribution sector. The students received a stamped certificate from SENAI and will remain in EDP’s talent pool after the course ends, which means they can take part in future selection processes for permanent positions.

This school exclusively for women is a first in the electricity industry and is part of EDP’s commitment to promote gender equality. EDP endorsed the UN’s Principles of Women’s Empowerment in 2017 and has joined the global effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and, subsequently, Gender Equality, one of the major global goals to be achieved by 2020.
